Happy New Year 2020
Happy New Year everyone! It has been a really long time since I updated this blog… When you haven’t had any symptoms of disease for more than 2 ½ years, there’s not much that seems right for a CaringBridge blog post… So, my apologies for going so long without an update, but now I’ve got something somewhat serious to report.
Unfortunately, my cancer has reasserted itself. My latest CT scan showed some progression, and I’m currently experiencing some mild, but familiar, symptoms of disease. I was treated with FOLFOX chemotherapy this past Monday through Wednesday, and I expect treatments to continue every two weeks or so until further notice. I also sent a stool sample out to check for an H. pylori infection, and should hear back this week. Back when I was first diagnosed, treating my H. pylori infection had a profound effect on the way that I felt. If I’ve been reinfected, we’ll retreat for it.
I am also scheduling an endoscopy to have a look around and collect new biopsy tissue.
Beyond the immediate medical stuff, Deborah and I have renewed the exemplary eating habits we practiced following my initial diagnosis, and redoubling our radical remission practices — especially our daily meditative practice and living in the present moment. Beyond all that, I am hoping I might be able to get another fully personalized neoantigen peptide cancer vaccine designed, tested and administered within 4 months or so – perhaps in conjunction with other supporting therapies. If so, it will be a world speed record.
Anyway, Happy New Year! God bless you and the whole world! And please keep us in your prayers – your support means everything, and I am forever grateful!!Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Pinterest
